Orthodox icon of Saint Nicholas Cabasilas on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Nicholas Cabasilas was a Byzantine mystic and theological writer born 1319/1323 in Thessalonica, Greece. He was on intimate terms with the emperor John VI Kantakouzenos, whom he accompanied in his retirement to a monastery. He served as a priest at the Mangana Monastery at Constantinople. His chief work is ''On The Life In Christ'', in which he lays down the principle that union with Christ is effected by the three great mysteries of baptism, chrismation and the eucharist. His feast day is June 20.
