Saint James the Greater
Saint James the Greater
Orthodox icon of Saint James the Greater on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. James the Greater is one of the first disciples to join Christ. Brother to Saint John the Apostle, they were known as the "Sons of Thunder." Some ancient writings claim he traveled to Iberia (Spain) as a missionary. The Book of Acts records that he was beheaded by Herod Agrippa. His relics were later translated from the Holy Land to Compostela in Spain. He is the patron saint of Spain, where he is often identified as Santiago, of hatmakers, rheumatoid sufferers, and laborers.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
