St. Gregory was born in a village of Smyrna in 1280. He went to Cyprus and Sinai, where he was tonsured a monk. He was an calligrapher, attendant and scholar. After many years he departed for Jerusalem, Crete and Mount Athos, where he found quietude at the Skete of Magoula and later at the Monastery of Simonopetra. A raid of Hagarenes forced him to leave Mount Athos and wander to different places. Returning to Great Lavra, new raids led him to Paroria in Bulgaria, where he built monasteries. He died peacefully in 1346. His feast day is on April 6.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
