St. Elikonida was born in Thessaloniki and lived during the reign of King Gordian III, in the middle of the 3rd AD. century. At a young age, Elikonida moved to Corinth, where she was accused as a Christian to the ruler Perinius. Lord Perinius tried to distract her from the path of the Lord, but all his efforts were in vain. The Saint remained firm in her faith and proclaimed that she is a Christian. Then Perinius insulted her and shaved her head. He ordered to torture the Saint, but the Divine Grace kept her unharmed. Finally, Elikonida was martyred by beheading and thus wore the amaranth wreath of martyrdom. Her feast day is on May 28.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
