Orthodox icon of Jesus Christ holding a sword on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
This icon shows one of the rarer depictions of Jesus Christ. A fresco in one of the most important monasteries in Kosovo depicts Jesus holding a large sword. The fresco is in the katholikon of the Sacred Monastery of the Ascension of Christ in Kosovo and dates back to the 14th century. The sword Christ is holding is not one of war, but it is spiritual that ''cuts'' sin from man. The Lord had said, ''Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword'' (Matt. 10:34).
