St. Theophanes was born in Ioannina in the 16th century. In a very young age he went to Mount Athos and joined the escort of the Monastery of Dochiario. After the death of the elder abbot, the monks elected him to be their abbot. The sister of the Saint sent him a letter saying that the Turks abducted her son and had taken him to Constantinople and to become a janissary. The Saint went to Constantinople and after a lot of efforts managed to free him and took him with him to Mount Athos, where he became a monk. The brotherhood of the monastery didn't want the nephew of the Saint because they were afraid of the Turks. The Saint took his nephew and went to Thessaloniki and from there to Veria, to the Monastery of Prodromou. In Naoussa he founded the Monastery of the Taxiarchon. He died peacefully in August 19, which is his feast day. He is the patron saint of the city of Naoussa.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
