St. Peter lived during the 9th century and was raised by pious parents in Constantinople. He devoted himself to monastic labors and he excelled all his fellows. The Italian bishop Nicholas I Mystikos consecrated Paul, St. Peter's brother, as Bishop of Corinth and Peter went to his brother and lived with him, taking upon himself the spiritual struggle of silence. Emissaries came to Bishop Paul from the city of Argos and they asked for St. Peter as their bishop. As bishop, St. Peter toiled zealously in guiding his flock. He was extraordinarily compassionate, concerning himself with those in need, especially orphans and widows. Peter departed to the Lord at the age of 70 around 928 AD. and his relics were placed in the Cathedral of Argos. His feast day is on May 3 and is the patron saint of the city of Argos.
