Saint Elizabeth of Hungary
Saint Elizabeth of Hungary
Catholic icon of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Elizabeth was the daughter of King Andrew II of Hungary and was betrothed to Louis IV, son of Hermann I, Landgrave of Thuringia, at the age of 14. They had 3 children. Mortification, fasting, scourging, and prayer had a prominent place in her earnest striving for perfection. In 1227, while on his way to the Sixth Crusade, Louis suddenly died of the ''Typhus'', leaving Elizabeth widow in a young age. Elizabeth distributed much of her wealth among the poor and retired to Marburg; here she built a hospital in honour of St. Francis of Assisi. Elizabeth died on November 17, 1231, on the age of 24. Her feast day is on November 17 and is the patron saint of the Franciscan Tertiaries and of bakers.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
