St. Auxibius was born in Rome to a wealthy family. In the schools of Rome he learned the secular sciences. His parents wanted their son to marry. Learning of this, Auxibius secretly left Rome and arrived in the village of Limnites, close to the city of Soli in Cyprus. There he met the Apostle Mark, who baptized him and consecrated him as bishop of Soli. Mark instructed him to go to the city, pretend to be a pagan, and convert the locals gradually. Auxibius left Limnites, and went to Soli. At a temple of Zeus he received hospitality from a priest whom he soon converted to Christianity. Hiding his faith, he started secretly preaching Christianity in the town, but continued to live at Zeus' temple. Herakleides, the Archbishop of Cyprus, went to Soli and instructed Auxibius to stop hiding his ministry. He set the foundations for a small church in the town and Auxibius continued building the church and consecrated it.  Auxibius started preaching Christianity in public. After 50 years of ministry, the Saint died. His feast day is on February 17.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
