Prophet Elissaios was the son of Shaphat, a wealthy land-owner of Abel-meholah. Elijah after learning in the cave on Mount Horeb, that Elissaios had been selected by Yahweh as his successor in the prophetic office, set out to find him. On his way from Mount Horeb to Damascus, Elijah found Elissaios, went over to him, threw his mantle over his shoulders, investing him with the prophetic office. Elissaios became Elijah's close attendant until Elijah was taken up into heaven. Before he settled in Samaria, Elissaios passed some time on Mount Carmel. He served from 892 until 832 BC as an advisor to the 3rd through the 8th kings of Judah, holding the office of ''prophet in Israel''. His feast day is on June 14 and is the patron saint of olive producers and olive merchants.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
