Saint Dorotheus of Gaza
Saint Dorotheus of Gaza

It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
Saint Dorotheos was born in Antioch about the year 506 of prominent parents. He was well-educated and worked as a physician. He desired to enter the monastic life, and joined the monastery of Thawatha, where Saints Barsanuphius and John also lived. For many years, Dorotheos struggled against the sin of pride, as his educated mind often led him to believe he knew better than others, including his abbot. As he overcame this passion, he progressed and was given the responsibility to oversee the younger monks who joined the monastery. This proved difficult to him, as he struggled in his social interactions with others. After the death of St. John, Dorotheos left the monastery and founded his own. He fell asleep in the Lord in 565, and his feast is celebrated on August 13.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
