Saint Constantine of Hydra
Saint Constantine of Hydra
Orthodox icon of Saint Constantine of Hydra on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Constantine left the island of Hydra where he was born for Rhodes, the island where the Turkish ruler Hasan Kapetan was. After being tempted by the life he enjoyed at the ruler's side, he decided to convert. Nevertheless, three years later, he realized his mistake and wanted to testify his true faith in order to atone. As his spiritual master in Rhodes did not leave him, Saint Constantine traveled to Mount Athos and received the blessing from the monks of the Iberon Monastery. When he returned to Rhodes, he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was severely tortured until his beheading in 1800. His holy relic is kept in a temple of Hydra built in his honor. His feast day is on November 14.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
