St. Aristides was born in Athens in the 2nd century AD. and studied philosophy at the Philosophical School of Athens. He embraced the Christian faith and was a disciple of St. Hierotheos and Saint Dionysius the Areopagite. In his famous Apology, he vigorously defended Christianity and the persecuted Christians of that time. Aristides' actions provoked the wrath of the Roman emperor Hadrian who ordered his persecution. The Saint went to Rome to apologize and then was taken to Athens where he was martyred by hanging in the market of Athens in 120 AD. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates his memory on September 13 of each year and the Roman Catholic on August 31.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
