St. Theophano was born of eminent parents, who were kin to several emperors. Her parents were childless for a long time and prayed to Virgin Mary to give them a child. So Theophano was born. When she grew up, she married Leo, the son of Emperor Basil the Macedonian. Responding to slander (that Leo carried a knife in his boot and planned to kill his father) Emperor Basil locked his son and daughter-in-law in prison for 3 years. After his father's death, Leo became emperor and was called ''the Wise''. Theophano devoted herself completely to God, she was fasting and praying, distributed many alms, and restored many monasteries and churches. She builded the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropigeal Monastery of St. Anastasia the Protector from Potions in Chalke in 883. She died in 892 in the age of 20 or 27. Her feast day is on December 16.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
