St. Maximos was educated at the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos at Lampsakos. At 17 years of age he left his parental home and became a monk. He pursued asceticism and extremely strict life. Arriving in Constantinople, Maximos went at the Blachernae Church of the Most Holy Theotokos and later fulfilled his obedience in the Great Lavra of Saint Athanasios on Mount Athos. St. Maximos did not live in a permanent abode, but wandered from place to place like a lunatic. Whenever he moved, he would burn his hut down. Therefore, he was called ''Kavsokalyvites'' or ''Hut-Burner''. He died aged 95 in 1365 and his feast day is on January 13.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
