Saint Theonas was a disciple of Saint Iakovos the Neomartyr and wandered in many places, among which are Mount Athos, Meteora, Thessaloniki, Didymoteicho and Adrianople. After the death of Iakovos, Saint Theonas settled in Holy Monastery of Saint Anastasia the Pharmacolytria, near Thessaloniki. He was abbot of the monastery until 1535 AD. and then he became Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, for a short period of time. The holy relics of Saint Theonas were transferred in a miraculous way and buried in the Monastery of Saint Anastasia. In the year 1821 AD the relics were transferred to Skopelos island and from there to the Holy Monastery Esfigmenou on Mount Athos. However, the relics were transferred again to the Monastery of Saint Anastasia, where they are kept with reverence until today. His feast day is on April 4.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
