It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.

St. Padarn was born in Letavia (modern Britanny) in 550 AD and was Armorican in race. His parents ''dedicated themselves to Christ'' and his father left Letavia for Ireland. Around 524 AD Padarn traveled to join his father in Ireland. He joined a fellowship of monks led by his cousin, Saint Cadvan, who were travelling to Britannia. Padarn became a student at Illtud's school, Cor Tewdws. Padarn later founded a monastery at Llanbadarn Fawr, which became the seat of a new diocese, with him as its first bishop. Padarn travels on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with Saint David of Wales and Saint Teilo to be ordained bishops by the patriarch. Along the way they acquired the gift of tongues so that whomever they spoke to understood them in his own language. The patriarch gave Padarn two gifts, a crozier and a woven tunic. On their return, they amicably divided Britannia into three bishoprics. Padarn finally returned to Letavia, where his fame filled the region and ''made peace'' with the bishop Samson in Vannes, where he built his monastery. His feast day is on April 16

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
