Saint Nikodimos the New Martyr of Veria
Saint Nikodimos the New Martyr of Veria
Orthodox icon of Saint Nikodimos the New Martyr of Veria on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Nikodimos was born in Veria around 1260-1270 from wealthy and well-educated parents. He was carefully brought up and instead of the comforts that could have been his, he chose the solitary life and the wilderness with its hardships and sorrows. At the beginning of his ascetic life, he found himself in the Skete of the Holy Forerunner and later in the Sotiros tou Christou Monastery called Philokallus in Thessaloniki, from where he was expelled several times because he was accused of associating with prostitutes. In fact, he was trying to bring the prostitutes back to God's path with the only agreement that they would henceforth remain pure, a fact that angered the pro-prostitutes who moved threateningly against him and finally slaughtered him one day when Nikodimos was outside the Monastery. He gave up his spirit at the gate of the Monastery at the age of about 40 years after the abbot of the Monastery had previously given him communion of the Immaculate Mysteries. His feast day is on November 24.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
