St. Maria was born in St. Petersburg in 1874 from a wealthy family. In 1913, she and her family moved to Gatchina. In 1922 she took her monastic vows at the hands of Archimandrite Makary. She remained in Gatchina, spending all her time praying and talking to people who turned to her for spiritual support. She was credited with the gifts of fortune-telling and performing miracles. In the early 1930s her health deteriorated further and in 1932 she was arrested together with her sister on charges of anti-Soviet agitation. Mniszka was taken to Leningrad, where she was sentenced to three years of exile. However, even before leaving for the place of punishment, Maria died and was buried in the Smolensk Cemetery. Her feast day is on April 19.

Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
