Saint Kenneth of Wales

Catholic icon of Saint Kenneth of Wales on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.  

St. Kenneth was born at Glengiven, Ireland in 515 and his father was a distinguished bard. In 543 Kenneth became a pupil at Finnian's monastic school at Clonard. In 544 he studied under Mobhi Clarainech at the school of Glasnevin and in 545 he was ordained priest. In 565 Kenneth joined Columba in Scotland and built a church in the place now known as Saint Andrews. He built monastic cells on the island of Ibdon and Eninis, an oratory on the shores of Loch Laggan and a monastery in Fife on the banks of the Eden. Kenneth spend a good deal of his time in County Meath and Ossory, where at the village of Aghaboe he built a significant monastery, which was destroyed completely in 1346. He died in 599 and was buried at Abbey of Aghaboe. His feast day is on October 11 and is the patron saint of the village Aghaboe and of the shipwrecked.
