Saint Boniface of Tarsus

Orthodox icon of Saint Boniface of Tarsus on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.  

St. Boniface was the slave of a rich young Roman woman named Aglaia. One day Aglaia asked him to go to the East and to bring back the relics of some martyr, who would become a guide and protector for them. Boniface arrived at Tarsus in Cilicia and went to the city square, where they were torturing Christians. He embraced them and kissed their feet, asking them to pray that he might be found worthy to suffer with them. He declared to the judge that he was a Christian and refused to offer sacrifice to idols. They stripped him and hung him upside down, beating him so hard that the flesh fell from his body, exposing the bone. They stuck needled under his nails, and finally they poured molten tin down his throat, but he remained unharmed. The other day the judge directed to be thrown into a cauldron of boiling tar, but he remained again unharmed. He was then sentenced to beheading by the sword. His feast day is on December 19.
