Saint Voukolos the Bishop of Smyrna
Saint Voukolos the Bishop of Smyrna
Orthodox icon of Saint Voukolos the Bishop of Smyrna on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Voukolos became in a very young age the disciple of St. John the Theologian, who ordained him Bishop of Smyrna. Voukolos ministered to the Church with all the conscientiousness, warmth and self-denial of those martyred years. He was a father and shepherd for his Christians in teaching and defense when they were in danger from the persecutors of the Gospel. And towards the pagan crowds he behaved with prudence and discrimination, taking care not to irritate them but also trying with divine art and illumination to attract many of them to the Christian faith. Before he repose, Voukolos ordained as successor the St. Polycarpus the Hieromartyr. His feast day is on February 6.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
