During the Austro-Turkish War, many Serbians suffered under the Turkish Islamic warriors. The Serbs in Banat decided to protect their families from these Turkish troops and asked bishop Theodore to lead them. He joined the rebellion against the Turks in 1593. The Serbs liberated some towns but in the end were defeated. Bishop Theodore and a large group of people went to Transylvania. The Turks then promised that they would stop killing innocent people if Theodore were to return. When he did, he was seized in 1595 and then killed in a terrible fashion: his skin was ripped off. His feast day is on May 16.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
