St. Arsenios was born on January 31, 1800 in Ioannina. His parents died when he was quite young. In the age of 9 he went to Kydonia, Asia Minor, where he was received by Hieromonk Gregory Saraphis and enrolled in his school. He remained there for 5 years. Arsenios became disciple of Fr. Daniel of Zagora and expressed the desire to travel to Mount Athos and to become a monk. After a period of testing he tonsured Arsenios into the Great Schema and remained on Mt. Athos for 6 years. Early in 1821 Arsenios and Fr. Daniel went to the Monastery of Penteli near Athens. Their stay was a brief one and the two made their way to the Cyclades Islands. First they stopped at Paros and eventually they decided to live on the island of Pholegandros. Arsenios was ordained as a deacon from Fr. Daniel and then he was appointed to the teaching post by the government. The Saint remained there as a teacher from 1829 to 1840. Fr. Daniel passed away in 1837. In 1840 Arsenios entered the Monastery of Saint George on the island of Paros. At the age of 47 he was ordained to the holy priesthood. On January 31, 1877 St. Arsenios fell asleep in the Lord.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
