Saint Zenon the Postman
Saint Zenon the Postman
Orthodox icon of Saint Zenon the Postman on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
Saint Zenon came from Caesarea in Cappadocia and held an important function in the imperial postal services during the reign of Emperor Valens (364-378 A.D.). After the emperor's death, he left the palace and settled in an open tomb, like other ascetics, in the periphery of Antioch, where he led an ascetic life for over forty years. Shortly before his death, around 416 B.C., Saint Zenon had charged the Bishop of Antioch with distributing the money he had inherited. The church celebrates his memory on February 10th and is the patron saint of postal officials and workers.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
