St. Beatus was born in Ireland or Scotland. Beatus was a convert, baptized in England by St. Barnabas. He was ordained priest in Rome by St. Peter the Apostle and was sent together with Achates to evangelize the tribe of the Helvetii. They set up a camp in Argovia and converted many locals. Beatus then ventured south to the mountains above Lake Thun, taking up a hermitage(St. Beatus Caves), in the 9th century. Tradition states that this cave is where he fought a dragon. He died at an old age in 112. His feast day is on May 9.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
