Orthodox icon of Saint Auxentios of the Mountain on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.

St. Auxentios was of Persian parentage but born in Syria. He came to Constantinople in the reign of Theodosius II and obtained a commission in the imperial guard. Resigning his commission in the guards, he enlisted in the ranks of the angelic army and made his way to Mount Oxeia, where he lived in complete obscurity, clad in a garment of animal hair. He was accused of heresy but was exonerated at the Synod of Chalcedon in 451, to which he had been invited by the emperor. Afterward he established a new hermitage atop Mount Skopas, in Bithynia. The Monastery of Saint Auxentios was destroyed in 760 by Iconoclasts. He died from illness on February 14, 470.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
