Orthodox icon of Saint Athanasius Patelaros the Patriarch of Constantinople on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon. 

St. Athanasius was born in the village Axos of Crete between 1580 AD and 1597 AD. He studied Ancient Greek Philology, Philosophy and Theology and knew Greek and Latin. He became a monk in the Sinaitic Metohi of Khandaka. Then he went to Mount Athos, where he settled in a cell he built himself in the area of Pantokratoros Monastery. He was ordained deacon, priest and bishop in Thessaloniki. In 1631 AD. he was elected Metropolitan of Thessaloniki. In March 1634 AD. he was elected Patriarch of Constantinople. However, he was dethroned shortly and returned to Mount Athos. In 1639 AD. Patriarch Parthenios I granted him the Metropolis of Thessaloniki and the Monastery of Vlatadon. In 1643 AD. Athanasius went to Moldavia and Wallachia, where he won the support of the local ruler Valios and re-ascended to the Patriarchal Throne in 1652 AD. for 15 days. Athanasius went to Russia and later to Iasio, Romania. He died on April 5, 1654 AD. at the Transfiguration Monastery of Lubny, Ukraine. His feast day is on August 21.
