Orthodox icon of Saint Aphrahat the Persian Sage on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon. 

St. Aphrahat was born in Persia in 280 and came from a Zoroastrian family. He composed a series of 23 expositions or homilies on points of Christian doctrine and practice. He was an ascetic and celibate and was a son of the covenant (early Syriac form of communal monasticism). He may have been a Bishop and places him at the head of Mar Mattai Monastery near Mosul, Iraq. He died in 345. His feast day is on January 29 and is the patron saint of the cities Erbil and Mosul in Iraq.
