Saint Anthony of Veria
Saint Anthony of Veria
Orthodox icon of Saint Anthony of Veria on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
The Righteous Anthony descended from pious and rich parents and lived at the end of 10th to the beginning of the 11th century AD. When he was still young, he became a monk in a skete of Veroia...He kept up his spiritual struggles there for twenty years. Being spiritually mature, and with the blessing of the abbot of the Skete, he fled to a cave, where he lived another 54 years in ascetical struggles. The Church honors the struggles and the righteous state of the Righteous Anthony, and perceived him as Great, thus naming him “the New” in homage to the older teacher of the desert St. Anthony the Great. The Righteous Anthony fell asleep in peace at the age of 94. His holy relic remained unburied and incorrupt for many days, during which it was still flexible. He is the patron Saint of Veroia and his feast day is on January 17.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
