St. Susanna was born in Georgia in the 5th century AD. She was married with Varsken, a feudal lord of Kartli in Georgia, who embraced the fire-worshiping faith of the Persians and subjected himself to the king of Persia. He asked his wife to deny her Christian faith, but she rebuked him for his apostasy and confessed her faith in the true God. He then had her harshly tortured and full of wounds she was cast into prison. There Susanna spent the last 6 years of her life with patience, fasting and prayer. Her feast day is in Eastern Orthodox in October 17, in Armenian Apostolic September 20 and in Eastern Catholic September 26.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
