Saint Kallinikos the Martyr

Orthodox icon of Saint Kallinikos the Martyr on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon. 

Saint Kallinikos was a martyr of the Orthodox Christian Church originating from Cilicia of Asia Minor. When he was in Ankara of Turkey, he was arrested by the local ruler Sacerdon. After being subjected to severe torture, Saint Kallinikos was forced to walk all the way to Gangra in Paphlagonia in shoes that bore nails. On the way there, the guards who accompanied him were thirsty, so Saint Kallinikos prayed and, miraculously, water gushed from a stone. As a sign of gratification, the guards allowed him to mount a horse for the rest of the journey to Gangra, but once there they followed their orders and threw Saint Kallinikos into a burning bush. The memory of Saint Kallinikos is honored by the Orthodox Christian Church on July 29 of each year.
