St. John Eudes was born in Ri, France. Following John's birth, his parents made a pilgrimage to the Church of Notre-Dame de la Recouvrance to dedicate their son to God. After being educated by a holy priest, John made his First Communion and received Confirmation at the age of 12. Overjoyed, he soon after made a personal vow of chastity, dedicating his life to God. As a teenager, John was sent to Caen, where he was educated by the Jesuits. John joined the French Oratory of Pierre de Berulle in Paris and was ordained a priest at 24. In 1633 he began earnest preaching. In 1641 he founded the Order of Our Lady of Charity of the Refuge, with the assistance of 3 Visitation sisters. In 1643 he left the Oratory and founded the Society of Jesus and Mary. Over the next 30 years, he founded 6 major seminaries in France. In 1648 he instituted a feast in honor of the Holy Heart of Mary. He died in 1680. His feast day is on August 19 and is the patron saint of Eudists, the Order of Our Lady of Charity, Diocese of Baie-Comeau and missionaries.

Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
