St. Christos was born in Albania. When he was 40 years of age, he traveled to Constantinople and there became a gardener. One day, as he was selling apples in the marketplace, he agreed to sell a Turk all of his apples. But then an argument ensued between them about the sale price. The vengeful Turk, out of malice, slandered the Christian. He charged that Christos wished to become a Muslim and was brought to court. The judge questioned Christos concerning the allegation and he answered with great courage, ''I am a Christian. I never uttered any such thing about converting to Islam''. Following this court scene, the judge ordered that the Martyr be severely flogged. Thereafter, they bound him and dealt him a blow to the head, which caused heavy bleeding. Christos was sent to the jail, where his feet were pressed in the stocks. That very same day, the Turks removed the Martyr from jail and struck off his head on February 12, 1748.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
