Orthodox icon of Saint Anysia the Virgin Martyr of Thessaloniki on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. St. Anysia was born in Thessaloniki from wealthy parents. She was orphaned at an early age and gave herself to godly thoughts and prayer. She sold all her possessions and distributed to the poor, and lived from the labors of her own hands. At that time, Emperor Maximian issued a decree that anyone could kill Christians without trial or sentence. One day Anysia went out to attend church. A soldier saw her beautiful countenance and asked for her name. Anysia said to him that she was Christ's handmaid and was going to the Church. When the soldier came closer and began to speak to her insanely, she shoved him away. The soldier struck her with his sword below the ribs and ran her through. She died in 298 and was buried by Christians. Her feast day is on December 30.
