St. Anastasia lived in Constantinople and came from an aristocratic family. At a young age she lost her husband and decided to leave the world. She left Constantinople and went to Alexandria. She founded a small monastery and devoted herself to God. Several years later, the Emperor Justinian was widowed and decided to search for Anastasia and marry her. St. Anastasia went to Scetis to ask Abba Daniel for help. The Abba dressed her in a man's monastic garb and called her Anastasios. He settled her in a remote cave and ordered her never to leave the cave and to receive no one. St. Anastasia dwelt in seclusion for 28 years. She died in peace in 567. Her feast day is on March 10.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
