St. Socrates was a hieromartyr of the Christian church and lived in Nicomedia in the 3rd century AD. At that time, the king was Alexander Severos who had begun the persecution of Christians in the area. Socrates as a priest and with the help of a young and pious woman, Saint Theodote, guided the flock and taught them the Word of God. For their action, the Saints were arrested, submitted to horrific torture and martyred in Ankara by beheading. The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates them on October 21 of each year.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
