St. Pitirim was chosen and consecrated to the See of Perm after the death of Saint Gerasim of Perm. Before becoming bishop, Archimandrite Pitirim was head of the Chudov Monastery. He later became known as the composer of the Canon to Saint Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow and also wrote his life. St. Pitirim tried to establish friendly relations between the Zyryani and Voguli peoples. In 1445 the landowners of Novgorod marched against the Voguli and took their leader captive. The leader of Voguli swore friendship to Perm and vowed to harass Christians no longer. Set free the leader of Voguli waited for a convenient moment to kill St. Pitirim. In 1448 the leader of Voguli made an attack on a Zyryani settlement. On August 19, 1456 he murdered St. Pitirim. His feast day is on August 19.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
