Saint James was a kinsman of the Lord Jesus, either His half-brother (a son of Joseph by his first wife) or His cousin (a son of Joseph's brother Cleopas). He is also known as James the Less and James the Just. He was the first bishop of Jerusalem, appointed to this position by the Apostles, and served with great holiness and righteousness.
