Saint Danax the Reader
Saint Danax the Reader

It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Danax lived during the 2nd century and was born in Illyricum(Albania). He served there as a Reader of the Church. During an invasion by pagans, the Saint took the church vessels and hid them in a remote place in order that they not fall into the hands of the unbelievers. He was seized by soldiers, however, and was being forced to sacrifice to the god Dionysios. Refusing to sacrifice and worship their loathsome idols, he remained firm in his faith in Christ. For this he was beheaded, and his body was thrown into the sea. His feast day is on January 16.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
