St. Arnold of Metz was born to a prominent Austrian family in 580 in France and died in 640 as a Bishop living at a monastery in the mountains of France. During an outbreak of the plague a monk named Arnold, who had established a monastery in Oudenburg, persuaded people to drink beer in place of water and when they did, the plague disappeared. Arnold spent his holy life warning people about the dangers of drinking water because beer was safe and water wasn’t. “From man’s sweat and God’s love, beer came into the world,” he would say. His feast day is on July 18 and is the patron saint of Metz, brewers, millers, music and finding lost objects.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
