St. Apollonia lived in Alexandria, Egypt, as a deaconess. Under Emperor Philip the Arabian, mobs roamed about Alexandria persecuting Christians. Apollonia was snared by a mob. She refused to deny Christ. The mob tortured her, tearing out her teeth with pincers. They took her to a pyre and threatened to throw her in the fire. Apollonia answered by throwing herself into the flame. Her feast day is on February 9 and is the patron saint of dentists, toothache sufferers, the village of Elst in Belgium, the town of Ariccia, Cuccaro Monferrato and Catania in Italy.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
