Orthodox icon of Virgin Mary Platytera (More Spacious than the Heavens) on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
The term Platytera or Platytera of the Heavens is the name given to the icon of the Virgin Mary that is painted on the inner upper part of the central niche of the Holy Step (commonly known as the Sanctuary) of Christian churches. Platytera is usually depicted seated on a throne, holding the Christ child in her arms, with a cloud at her feet. But many times it is also performed in a standing position with arms outstretched and slightly raised.
