St. Theophanes received an excellent education and was particularly involved in philosophy. He settled in the Lavra of Saint Savva and was tonsured hieromonk. He was famous as advocate of icon veneration; he went to Constantinople to denounce the iconoclast emperor Leo the Armenian; emperor Michael Balbos and emperor Theophilus. He endured imprisonment, hunger and torture and was sent to exile. With the restoration of Icon veneration he returned from exile and consecrated Bishop of Nicaea. He wrote 150 canons and died peacefully in 850 AD. His feast day is on October 11.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
