St. Leandros lived in the 6th century and was from an aristocratic family. From a very young age he followed the monastic life and was distinguished for his education and virtues. Therefore the Church made him Bishop in 579 AD. He founded a theological school in order to spread Orthodox religion, but also to cultivate science and art. The heretic king Levegild came into conflict with orthodox son Hermenegild and persecution broke out against the Orthodox. St. Leandros fled to Constantinople to seek help from the emperor. When the persecution against the Orthodox reached at an extreme point, king Levegild fell deadly ill, changed his attitude, invited St. Leandros to his deathbed and, after repenting, begged him to redirect his successor Reccared to the true orthodox faith. He prepared his brother, St. Isidore, to become successor of his bishop throne and helped his sister, St. Florentin, to become the founder and abbess of 40 monasteries with thousands of nuns. St. Leandros, Bishop of Seville, died in 600 AD. His feast day is on February 27.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
