St. Hezekiah was the son of King Ahaz. He became King of Judah at the age of 25, and reigned at Jerusalem for 29 years. He reopened the Temple of Solomon and destroyed all the idols throughout his kingdom. At the 14th year of his reign, the Assyrian king Sennacherib, having conquered Israel, gathered his forces to make war upon Hezekiah. The Saint king turned to God in prayer, and an angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 soldiers in the Assyrian camp. Soon after the withdrawal of Sennacherib, Hezekiah fell ill. The Prophet Isaiah came to him through the will of God and told him to set his affairs in order, since he would soon die. But the power of Hezekiah’s prayer was so great that God prolonged his life for another 15 years. Hezekiah died at age 54 and was buried with great reverence at Jerusalem. His feast day is on August 28.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
