During the reign of emperor Constantine the Great there was a king in India, whose name was Abner. Some astrologers said to him that his newborn son Joasaph will one day embrace the Christian religion. In order to thwart this ''prophecy'', Abner locked his son in a remote palace with servants and teachers, and advised them not to say anything to the child about the Christian faith. There Joasaph grew up and was given a great education. After many pleas to his father, Joasaph managed and convinced him to go outside the palace but under strict surveillance. On one of his walks, however, he met two poor old men, to whom he bravely gave alms, and they were moved and revealed to him the secret of his confinement. From then on Joasaph was thirsty to learn about the Christian religion. Finally Joasaph was baptized, he made his father a Christian too, and later he became a monk and taught the Gospel in his country. His feast day is on August 26.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
