Saint Augustine of Hippo

Saint Augustine lived in the 4th century. He was raised by his mother, Saint Monica, in Carthage, Africa. He lived a prodigal life of sin, and at the ceaseless prayers of his mother, he came to repentance and true faith in Christ. Augustine's autobiography of repentance is found in his book Confessions. He traveled to Italy and studied under Saint Ambrose, was baptized, and was tonsured a monk. He was ordained a priest in 391 and became bishop of Hippo a few years later. As bishop, he combatted many heresies and wrote prolifically, using language that the common people could understand and learn from. St. Augustine reposed in peace in the year 430. His feast is celebrated on August 28 (the date of his death) in the West and on June 15 in the Orthodox Church. He is oftentimes given the additional honorific title of "Blessed."

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
