St. Anatolius was born at Alexandria. He was ordained a deacon by St. Cyril of Alexandria and was present at the Third Ecumenical Council at Ephesus in the year 431. He became Patriarch through the influence of Pope Dioscorus I of Alexandria and Emperor Theodosius II. After his consecration, being under suspicion of Eutychianism, Anatolius publicly condemned the teachings not only of Eutyches, but also those of Nestorius. In conjunction with Pope Leo he requested that the Emperor Marcian summon a general council against Dioscorus and the Eutychians. In the council of Chalcedon Anatolius presided in conjunction with the Roman legates and by the famous 28th canon Constantinople was made equal in dignity with Rome. Hence arose the controversy between Anatolius and the Roman pontiff. The followers of Dioscorus are said to have killed him in 458. His feast day is on July 3.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
