Sts. Agape, Chionia and Eirini were orphaned at a young age and lived under the direction of the priest Xeno. In 303, Emperor Diocletian issued a decree making it a capital offense to possess Christian scriptures. The sisters hid their scriptures, but were arrested for offending the Imperial cult by not eating food that had been sacrificed to the gods. Emperor Diocletian sent the sisters to the Governor of Thessalonica, Dulcitius; annoyed with Dulcitius as ineffectual, Diocletian sent the sisters to Count Sisinus for trial. He imprisoned Eirini, and Agape and Chionia were burned. Count Sisinus ordered Eirini to be taken to a brothel, but on the way the escort was intercepted by two soldiers who told them to abandon her on a mountain. When they returned Sisinus grew angry as he had given no such orders. He pursued Eirini and she was wounded in the throat with an arrow, at which point she died. Their feast day is on April 16.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
